Bonnet Silk Factories

Come and discover over 2 centuries of textile production! From simple black threads to patterned weaves, from technological innovations to the development of haute couture, Bonnet Silk Factory Museum tells the story of the men, women and children who once lived here, revealing the evolution of silk over the years. Weaving professions, textile designs, fabrics and archives make up the rich and unique collection which has been carefully preserved and displayed in the original factory buildings, now listed as a Historic Monument.
A key element of parties and revery, wine also inspired the designs of fine fabrics. A number of collections on wine and the vineyard will take you on an intoxicating journey through the worlds of silk and wine. The collections include photographs showing the place that the vine held within the factory-cum-boarding school, a CJ Bonnet wine cork, scarves and textile designs featuring telling names such as Bacchus, the Roman god of wine.
